Anne-Marie Slaughter on her new book “The Chessboard & the Web”

In her recent book, “The Chessboard & the Web: Strategies of Connection in a Networked World”, UBC Phil Lind Initiative speaker Anne-Marie Slaughter develops network-oriented strategies for navigating the interconnected world of the twenty-first century. While chessboard-style competitive relationships still exist—U.S.-Iranian relations, for example—many other situations demand that we look not at individual entities but at their links to one another. We must learn to understand, shape, and build on those connections.

Anne-Marie Slaughter is a foreign policy expert, current President and CEO of New America and the former U.S. Director of Policy Planning.

*Staff from the UBC Bookstore will be selling copies of Slaughter’s book, The Chessboard and the Web, before and after her talk at UBC on February 26th. Bookstore staff can take cash or credit.
