Opinion: The Four Kinds of Truth America Needs to Pursue Reconciliation

In an op-ed for The Washington Post, Danielle Allen, James Bryant Conant University Professor at Harvard University, and a Phil Lind Initiative speaker for our 2021 series The Anti-Democratic Turn, emphasizes the commitment to seeking truth in response to the Capitol insurrection in four aspects: forensic; personal; emotional; and social truth. Allen believes that the conceptualization of these truths can help reinvigorate people’s hunger for personal empowerment with an embrace of deep pluralism within society.
